Days ten & eleven 22 & 23 June 2023

Day ten 22/6/2023

We woke to discover we were in the Firth of Forth right next to the Forth Bridge. I managed to get a couple of pictures from the cabin’s balcony. Later that morning we took the tender boat to Queensferry where I managed some better pictures. On arrival at the port there was a bus waiting to take us to Edinburgh city. We chose to wear similar rig to yesterday, today we got it right, the weather was gorgeous. After our 30 minute drive we arrived in the city centre and walked down the road to where the tour buses run from. The bus came along, we climbed aboard and took good positions on the open upper deck. The took us to many of the city’s famous sites including Princes Street, The Royal Mile, Edinburgh Castle and many more. We also learned about some of the famous people associated with the city, Walter Scott, Alexander Graham Bell, J K Rowling, Sean Connery and others. It was a really interesting. With the tour over we walked around and those of you who know me know I just had to photograph a tram before catching the bus back to Queensferry. When we arrived back we wandered about the town’s  front then took the tender back to the ship. The weather was still glorious so we went and sat up top with an ice cream. We later had our dinner then watched another superb show. The ship then set off towards France for our next port of call. We then turned in for the following day , day eleven is a day at sea and the ship goes onto continental time, so we lose an hour.

Day eleven 23/6/2023

We woke at what appeared early because we’d lost an hour. We went up to breakfast. After we’d eaten we walked through to the theatre where we witnessed a comical cooking competition between the head chef and the maitre’d. We were then taken on a tour of the galley. What a sight. We then just chilled until dinner. Tonight was an another formal night so white tux got another airing. A superb meal and on this occasion all the catering staff paraded through the restaurant to the appreciation of the diners. We then visited the theatre a witnessed a wonderful show of classical and top musical theatre numbers. It was excellent. When the show ended we went and sat in the lounge for another musical interlude over a drink before turning in.
